VICTORVILLE, CA—Stirling Capital Investments announced it has completed construction of a 176,800-square-foot facility expansion at the Southern California Logistics Centre (SCLC), the 2,500-acre industrial and commercial complex located in Victorville, Calif. The construction enhancements were made to accommodate the increased nationwide distribution needs of Fortune 500 corporation Newell Rubbermaid, a tenant at SCLC since 2007, which recently committed to a 10-year lease extension. Expected to bring 65 jobs to the City of Victorville, the enhanced facility expanded from 407,612 to 584,412 square feet. Newell Rubbermaid took occupancy as of January 1.
“This is a win for our city and is indicative of the continued benefits of our long term public/private partnership with Stirling Capital Investments and the economic drivers we have been able to establish,” said Victorville Mayor Jim Cox. “Our partnership in the development of SCLA has resulted in key economic benefits for the City and its residents and businesses.”
Construction for the expansion began in July and was completed in December. The facility is notable for being the first corporate distribution center built from the ground-up at SCLC, as well as the largest industrial development in the High Desert since 2009. The new space directly connects to the existing facility via pre-designed knockout panels for optimized distribution. The building includes state of the art features including energy efficient T5HO warehouse lighting with motion sensors, abundant natural daylighting from skylights, cross-dock design, 32-foot clear height, ESFR fire protection, secured full concrete truck courts and ample power.
“We are thrilled to see a global corporation such as Newell Rubbermaid expand their operation and make a long term commitment to the County,” said Robert Lovingood, First District Supervisor, County of San Bernardino. “The High Desert region is uniquely positioned to provide companies broad regional access to their southwest markets.”
