RIDGEFIELD, NJ-The Borough Council voted last night to spend more than $500,000 on the preliminary architectural and engineering work on the construction of a civic center here.

The council voted 5-1 to approve the preliminary work on the proposed building that would be constructed at the site of the existing Community Center on Slocum Avenue, according to The Record.

The proposed civic center would cost between $12 million to $15 million and would be home to the borough's Recreation Department and Board of Health, as well as its clerk, construction and finance departments. A youth center and gymnasium would also be part of the project. See story in The Record.
