SAN JOSE, CA—A new student health center at San Jose State University will be handled by Blach Construction Co.

The 53,000-square-foot, three-story Student Health and Counseling Center is slated for the Paseo de San Carlos and Seventh Street, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.  The facility will provide health and counseling services, according to a news release. The energy-efficient building will have room for about 70 employees and 20 students assistants.

The contract win follows a design-build competition, the Journal says. Ratcliff Architects is doing the design. The project will utilize a prefabricated structural system from ConXtech, which a news release states will speed structural steel erection.

"This project allows Blach to begin what we hope will be a long and successful relationship with San Jose State University and the CSU system," Scott Bergstrom, Blach project executive, said in a news release. "Our years of experience building projects on active K-12 and higher education campuses will be key to delivering a great project."
