AUSTIN, TX—CBRE brings on Chuck Townsend to the Central Texas Land Services Group. Townsend has represented and negotiated successful transactions in Central Texas and the Rio Grande Valley for 30 years.

“We are excited to have Chuck join CBRE,” said Scott Senese, senior managing director of the Central Texas region. “He is a well respected brokerage professional in Central Texas, who has a well diversified commercial brokerage skill set that is desirable for servicing our clients.”

For the last 16 years, Townsend owned his own firm, Townsend & Associates, Inc. and specialized in commercial real estate sales, leasing, site selections and business brokerage. He's also worked at McAllister & Associates, as well as consulted for John Deere Company.

His notable accomplishments include:

- The sale of the American Surety Life Insurance building in the Austin CBD, including the $15 million life insurance company and $25 million in seller-financed notes

- Public-private partnership consulting for the City of McAllen for airport expansion, where he handled the sale and seller-financing of the land and then sold the notes post-closing

- The total entitlement process of a 70-acre industrial subdivision in McAllen, TX

“I wanted to partner with a well respected company with a global reach,” said Townsend. “CBRE has that reach.”

Townsend grew up in McAllen, TX, is fluent in Spanish and has taken several international real estate certification courses in Mexico. Chuck completed his Registered Landman (RL) Certification in 2012 and negotiates oil/gas leases in the Rio Grande Valley. His experience with both real estate, and oil and gas enable him to evaluate both the surface and sub-surface real estate from both fee and leasehold interests simultaneously.
