KATY, TX—Memorial Hermann Health System plans to build an additional patient tower at its Katy location.

According to a report in the Houston Business Journal, the company has issued requests for proposals and expects responses by next week.

The six-story, $70 million tower would boost Memorial's Katy hospital bed from 125 to 200.

The plans also include doubling the emergency department and operating room capacity. The project is phase two of a master plan the hospital began in 2007, and construction is expected to be complete by 2016.
