MENLO PARK, CA—Developer John Arrillaga and Stanford University are scaling back a plan to develop an 8-acre mixed use complex, due in part to community concerns.
According to a report at Palo Alto Online, the university's managing director for development, Steve Elliott communicated with city officials Wednesday, describing the plans to scale back the project.
These include: reducing office space from 96,000 to 25,000 square feet; cutting the total space from 229,500 to 199,500 square feet; adding 22 apartments for a total of 170; reduction from three car lanes to two in the public plaza, and the inclusion there of a pedestrian-bike path.
Elliott said that now the office building design “responds more appropriately to the style and feel of Menlo Park and coordinates more closely with the project's residential and retail buildings.” No sketches were included in his email to the city, the report noted.
