ATLANTA—Batson-Cook Realty is turning its attention from buying to selling. And the firm says builder activity is heating up.

Batson-Cook has snapped up more than 120 subdivisions with 10 or more lots throughout metro Atlanta. The firm also facilitated transactions totaling more than $71 million in volume last year. Now, brokers are handling the disposition of 130 prime acres of commercial property in Newnan, Ga. many for an international investment company.

Specifically, Batson-Cook is working closely with Turnstone Group LLC. With home prices beginning to rise according to the latest report by Case-Shiller Home Price Indices and the housing supply continuing to shrink, Batson-Cook is marketing for sale the assets they have helped Turnstone pick up over the last two years.

“We've recognized that the market has turned,” says Norm Richie of Batson-Cook, who the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors recently named Top Land broker by volume. “We are starting to see the builder demand intensify and we are in a strong position to move forward in the interest of our client.”

Among the key acquisitions from the last few years are nearly 8,500 residential lots in the metro Atlanta market and more than 60 strategic land tracts. Turnstone owns a 2,341-acre tract of land in Canton, a 125-acre mixed use property in Newnan in close proximity to the new Piedmont Hospital as well as several other well positioned commercial tracts in Woodstock and Buford among others.
