GWINNETT, GA-Plans were announced on Wednesday for a 400,000-square-foot film studio along Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Interstate 85 here.

The movie studio space is to be part of a planned mixed-use project on 100 acres by Jacoby Development of Atlanta, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. The plans include an entrepreneurial college, residential, office and retail buildings. OFS, a fiber optic company that currently operates at the site, will continue to use 60 acres of the property.

“The dozen sound stages that we build first will be full from the day they open,” Jacoby Development Chairman Jim Jacoby stated in a press release. “The campus will be complemented by an arts and media education center in partnership with a leading higher education institution – plus a mix of housing, retail, hotel, office and entertainment to complement and support it.”

He adds that the sale of the land will likely close by the end of this year. See story in the Gwinnett Daily Post.
