MOUNT LAUREL, NJ-The Red Roof Inn has gone to court seeking reversal of the Mount Laurel Planning Board's approval of a developer's site plan for a Walmart store to be built near its 108-room Fellowship Road establishment here.
The lawsuit is another chapter in an ongoing battle by developer Mount Laurel Development LLC of Bellmawr to adance the project. According to the Burlington County Times, a major phase of the firm's overall project has already been shelved.
The Walmart project was originally part of a two-phase plan that also called for a 102,442-square-foot Lifetime Fitness facility on Church Road. That project was given final approvals a year ago, but later was abandoned over a contract issue between the national company and Mount Laurel Development, the newspaper reports.
Planning Board Solicitor Christopher Norman says the township will “vigorously” defend itself against the lawsuit. See story at phillyburbs.com.
