NEW YORK CITY-The leader of Bryant Park Corp. and the 34th Street Partnership says he has lined up support from some of the area's largest property owners for the formation of a business improvement district for Sixth Avenue.
Daniel Biederman says executives from Rockefeller Development, the Blackstone Group, RXR Realty and Paramount Group. have thrown their support for the venture, according to Crain's New York Business.
"The biggest owners are on board," Biederman says.
The BID, which plans to raise nearly $17 million in upfront capital, would generate a little more than $4 million a year by imposing a 13 cent surcharge per square foot on commercial office rents on an estimated 33 million square feet of office space along the avenue.
