DAYTON-The Ohio State Racing Commission has granted Penn National Gaming the necessary approvals to begin construction on the new $125-million Hollywood Dayton Raceway here.
The project will be built at the site of an abandoned Delphi Automotive plant in North Dayton, according to the Dayton Business Journal.
The commission approved the final transfer of a racing license to the track and agreed to a proposal submitted last week by Penn National Gaming to increase the raceway's seating capacity.
The racino will be built in two phases and open with 1,037 seats, according to Penn National Gaming spokesperson Bob Tenenbaum.
“We will be restarting construction as soon as we can, which will not be long,” Tenenbaum says. Construction is expected to be finished by December of this year. See story in the Dayton Business Journal.
