ATLANTA-Georgia State University is considering the purchase of 55 Park Place in downtown Atlanta. The university is one of a host of bidders for the 19-story office tower.

The building, formerly the Georgia-Pacific Plaza, has generated significant investor interest. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that at least 12 parties have bid on the 553,468-square-foot building that is being marketed by the Atlanta office of Cushman & Wakefield.

The 55 Park Place building was taken back by its lender in 2011 for $42 million. Georgia State has plans to develop an $82.5 million College of Law building near the 55 Park Place property. See story in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
