CHICAGO-Sometime this week Mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to reveal plans for a partially publicly-supported $300-million stadium for DePaul University at McCormick Place.

The mayor is also said to be ready to unveil plans for two large hotels on McPier property to grow the city's convention and meeting business, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Sources told the newspaper that the mayor's tentative plan calls for a “shared burden” of resources, among DePaul University, private sponsorship, taxpayer money in a McPier Bond fund, and possibly city tax-increment financing money.

“If I was a betting person, I would say McCormick Place is where you're going to find a Chicago casino,” said an official who has taken part in development discussions. “I would guarantee you that's where it's going.” See story in the Chicago Sun-Times.
