CLARKSBURG, MD- Simon Property Group and its local partners unveiled plans for a nearly 450,000-square-foot Clarksburg Premium Outlets at Cabin Branch retail development here.
Streetscape Partners of Bethesda, MD and New England Development of Newton, MA say they have signed a contract with Adventist HealthCare to purchase 47 acres of land south of Clarksburg Road to build an outlet center in partnership with Simon Property Group, which is headquartered in Indianapolis. Adventist had been trying to develop a hospital on the property, but never secured the necessary approvals to allow the project to proceed.
Ron Kaplan, co-managing principal of Streetscape Partners, estimates construction could begin in late 2014 and the outlets could open in 2015, according to the Washington Post.
That timeline is based on the project not requiring a master plan amendment, which likely won't be determined until mid-July. See story in the Washington Post.
