DULUTH, GA- Sonesta International Hotels Corp. opened its 426-room Sonesta Gwinnett Place hotel here on Friday.

The hotel, formerly the Atlanta Marriott Gwinnett Place, is the Newton, MA-based firm's second hotel property in the Atlanta area. Sonesta also operates the 122-room Sonesta ES Suites Atlanta.

The Sonesta Gwinnett Place at 1775 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth is the largest hotel in Gwinnett County. The 17-story hotel has 15 suites and three concierge floors. The hotel features 18 function rooms offering more than 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space and has an 8,000 square foot Georgia Ballroom that accommodates up to 1,000 guests. Other amenities include a steakhouse, lounge and casual dining restaurant, swimming pool, health club, and sundeck.
