MILFORD, CT-The Subway restaurant chain reports it plans to add more than 3,000 locations worldwide. The locally based company announced its growth plans as it participates in the International Conference of Shopping Centers ReCon convention this week in Las Vegas.

The franchise system, the largest in the world in terms of number of locations, currently has more than 39,000 locations in 102 countries.

"Subway developers, field staff and leasing specialists from all across North America will be attending the event to look for sites and make deals so that we can continue to provide career opportunities to entrepreneurs and the great tasting food to people everywhere looking for healthier choices, indulgent favorites and outstanding value," says Chris Kan, training and business promotion specialist for Subway Real Estate, LLC, in a release.

Since January, the chain has opened approximately 800 new stores in 54 countries, nine Canadian provinces and 46 states in the US, plus the District of Columbia. The size of subway franchise locations range from 100 to 5,000 square feet.
