WASHINGTON, DC-Douglas Development announced it has picked CBRE for the boutique office and retail project it wants to build at 1000 F St., NW. It is the latest step forward for the project. Briefly, 1000 F St. will be a 93,000-square foot, 11-story office and retail building in Penn Quarter.

The architectural firm is Shalom Baranes Associates, which, as part of its design, incorporated the existing two-story designated historic structure at the site as well as the facades. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2013.

Earlier this month, the Zoning Commission held a hearing regarding the proposed building, which falls within the Pennsylvania Avenue National Historic Site, Elevation DC reported. The project already has the Historic Preservation Board Review's approval, Elevation DC noted; what the Zoning Commission wanted to hear about were Douglas's proposed modifications to the original design, including his desire to scale back on the parking.
