DEERFIELD BEACH, FL-A ribbon cutting for Deerfield Beach's first Walmart is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) at 7 a.m.

The 57,000-square-foot Walmart Neighborhood Market grocery store at 1101 S. Military Trail is part of the giant retailer's expansion plan for the greater Miami tri-county region, according to the South Florida Business Journal. In 2012, Walmart stated it planned to build or expand 14 new stores in South Florida over the next two years. Some are to be supercenters, while others will be the smaller Neighborhood Markets, which only houses the retailer's grocery section.

The Deerfield Beach store will open immediately after the ribbon cutting. The store will employ 90 workers, according to a company issued press release. See story in the South Florida Business Journal.
