NEW YORK CITY-The deadline for offers for Carlyle Group L.P.'s 650 Madison Ave. building is today and reports are that some bids have already gone as high as $1.4 billion for the 27-story, 600,000-square-foot building.

The deal could surpass the $1.1-billion acquisition of the Sony Corp. building earlier this year by the Chetrit Group as the largest U.S. deal so far in 2013 and would be the largest since Google Inc.'s $1.8-billion purchase of its West Chelsea building in December 2010, according to Bloomberg News.

The largest office tenant at the fully leased 650 Madison Ave. building is a unit of Ralph Lauren Corp. A Crate & Barrel store occupies the retail space on the street level of the property located between East 59th and East 60th streets. See story at Bloomberg News.
