HOLLYWOOD, FL-After a number of failed attempts to bring development to the site, Hollywood City Commissioners are expected to vote on the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort project this evening.

An affirmative vote would allow the developers—Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort LP—to take possession of the property at A1A and Johnson Street in order to build a Jimmy Buffett-themed beachfront complex that would feature a 349-room hotel and restaurant complex and a parking garage with 600 public spaces. The development group is comprised of Lojeta Millennium and Margaritaville of Hollywood and the investment firm Starwood Capital Group.

To move forward, the project requires a supermajority vote or a minimum of five “yes” votes, according to the Miami Herald.

Estimates are the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort will cost $147 million to build and take 27 months to complete.

“We've waited long enough for something to be built there,” says Commissioner Patricia Asseff. “We need this.” See story in the Miami Herald.
