CAMDEN, NJ-Demolition work commenced on Wednesday on the former Sears building here that will eventually make way for an office park at the site on Admiral Wilson Boulevard.
The building, which is located near the Campbell Soup Co. headquarters, has been vacant for several years and was a Sears location until 1971. The famous soup company bought the site for development last year, according to the South Jersey Times.
The Sears building is located near Campbell's world headquarters in Camden. A spokeswoman for Campbell said the company is currently looking for a developer for the redevelopment project.
“Campbell is looking for outside companies for what will be the Gateway District office park,” says Stephanie Wurster, a company spokeswoman. “Campbell will retain ownership of the building for the foreseeable future.” See story in the South Jersey Times.
