MAPLE SHADE, NJ-After its mixed-use project on Main Street here received some local criticism, RPM Development Group has put the project on hold for now.
The Essex County-based firm says it plans to revisit its project in the coming months, but took a step back after approximately 50 residents who live near the project site, voiced strong opposition to the proposal, according to the Burlington County Times.
The developer is hoping to obtain approvals from the township to redevelop the Baron building into 66 age-restricted apartments. The project would also include approximately 10,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.
"Ultimately, we're not going to do anything if the township doesn't support it," Kevin Kavanaugh, vice president of RMP, says, adding the firm would propose reducing the number of units at the project to 58 and increase parking to 47 spaces. "We're going to keep working at it," he adds. "On balance, it's a good project. Hopefully, we can demonstrate that." See story in the Burlington County Times.
