ATLANTA-Facing growing overseas demand for its services, GreenbergFarrow—an architectural, planning, engineering and development firm—has opened offices in Mexico and in China.
One of America's top retail design firms, GreenbergFarrow has earned international assignments and attracted a variety of overseas developers and retailers.
The office in downtown Mexico City will build upon the company's existing architecture work in Mexico on behalf of a large, US-based retailer of home merchandise. GreenbergFarrow's strategic plan for the Mexico market will concentrate on the retail and restaurant sectors, as well as residential and mixed-use opportunities.
“Many international retailers are looking to establish or expand operations in Mexico,” said company principal Rene Ferandel, who manages the Mexico City office. “While their consultants must understand the retailers' needs, they also need to properly navigate local jurisdictions and adhere to local construction practices. GreenbergFarrow will leverage our experience in both the United States and Mexico to build a strong book of business there.”
While the company had previously contemplated the establishment of an Asian presence, the opening of the China office in Shanghai came about through the firm's participation in a Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce trade mission in March. Contacts established during the mission led to a GreenbergFarrow assignment to design a massive, nine-million square-foot, mixed-use project in a second-tier city in central China. The China office will target five market segments: retail, residential, mixed-use, hospitality and master planning.
“The Chinese market is growing, viable, and presents outstanding opportunities for a firm with our wide spectrum of capabilities,” said Rodney Abney, Jr., the company's principal in charge of the China office. “We expect the Chinese development sector to be eager to tap our company's unique spectrum of skills.”
Founded in 1974, GreenbergFarrow is an international architecture, planning, engineering and development services firm with offices in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Columbus, Los Angeles, Fresno, Dallas, Boston, Phoenix, Somerset, New Jersey, Shanghai and Mexico City.
