PHILADELPHIA-The Walnut Street building that once served as the television studio for the “Mike Douglas Show” has been put on the market for sale.
The building at 1619 Walnut St. in Rittenhouse Row also was the former home of restaurant Brasserie Perrier. An Ulta Beauty cosmetic store is the anchor tenant of the property, owned by the Vesper Property Group. Vesper acquired the six-story, 35,000-square-foot building in 2008 for $7.4 million from the Girard estate, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The art deco building was constructed in 1937 and was originally occupied by Westinghouse Broadcasting and later KYW-TV. The studio space at the building was once used to tape The Mike Douglas Show in the 1960s until the early 1970s. Douglas passed away in 2011 at the age of 81.
