SOUTH DALLAS, TX-Construction began this week on the first phase of a mixed-use, transit-oriented development in South Dallas.
The initial phase of Lancaster-Kiest Village will include an 8,000-square-foot office and retail building anchored by Rudy's Chicken, a popular Oak Cliff eatery, says the Dallas Business Journal. The larger project will also include multifamily residential.
The developer, City Wide Community Development Corp., plans to demolish the existing building to make way for the new building, which is scheduled for completion in late 2013.
Along with the restaurant, Serenity Place, an organization that offers housing and supportive services to homeless women with and without children, will open on the property.
