Who doesn't have a smartphone these days?

I think it's even hit the point where you can't opt for a non-smartphone when you purchase a new rate plan. Being that I've been stuck in the same contract for two years – and it's almost up! – I have the same, now very old iPhone 3Gs. It's been the subject of much hilarity at bars and parties and I honestly can't wait to get a new model. Naturally, for free. When I change my contract.

I'm also not the kind of person who uses a lot of apps. If I want email, I can check it, and anything related to my field people tend to use as second nature: I mean Facebook and Twitter. However, a ton of non-social media companies make apps available for their audiences, and it seems that NAREIT is the latest for commercial real estate: The REIT Investor App.

Anyone who deals with REITS may be cheered to learn that the firm's app promises the ability to:

- Grab stock prices for NYSE/AMEX and NASDAQ publicly-listed REITS

- Check out profile pages for public REITS

- Get financial news and press releases

- Utilize a Financial Event Calendar

- Access company REIT websites

And more, according to a promotional email from NAREIT.  Apparently, this app is perfect for the mobile investor, and with business travel on the upswing, plus more people working on the go, it might be perfect for REIT-centric individuals.

Here's the jargon:

“The REIT Investor App offers investors a clean, concise experience, allowing the user to quickly check the pulse of the industry from a macro level down to specific companies. Within minutes, the end-user has a very clear understanding of current trends and information that could be shaping the market or influencing a specific company's performance. Investors have the ability to scan indexes, stock prices and other financial data, and can use filters to narrow a search down to specific segments of the industry. Users can also drill down into individual company specifics including financial data, events, news and press releases.”

So I'm not the best person to write a review of this app, but I'm curious to hear from you: Have you downloaded the NAREIT app? What do you think?
