RALEIGH, NC-The proposed $54-million Charter Square office building project here is closer to breaking ground now that the Raleigh Planning Commission unanimously approved the project.

The commission approved the 11-story, 250,000-square-foot project after a public hearing earlier this week, according to the Triangle Business Journal. The 225,000-square-foot building, which will be built on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, will contain both office and retail space.

The developers still need approval for a variance of right-of-way-requirements. The Raleigh City Council is expected to discuss Charter Square's variance proposal on July 16. If all approvals can be secured, developer Andy Andrews, president and CEO of Dominion Realty Partners, says the project could break ground by November. See story in the Triangle Business Journal.
