ALLENTOWN, PA-The former Allentown Racquetball & Health Club at 601-23 W. Union Street has been sold to a group of investors looking to convert it for use as a charter school.
Colliers International handled the sale. The 28,600-square-foot facility fetched $700,000; the buyers expect to invest $4 million to renovate the structure and turn it into a performing and fine arts charter school.
Plans for the school are awaiting approval by the Allentown School Board.
Derek Zerfass of Colliers' Allentown office represented the seller in the transaction.
The property is located between I-78 and Route 22 along the Route 145 corridor, two blocks from downtown Allentown.
