NEW YORK CITY-DTZ is stepping up its game in the New York City metro area with the hiring of industry veteran David Gialanella in the newly established position of executive managing director for the companys New York tri-state region. He'll be working with a team that in recent days has been bolstered by the addition of Joyce Geiger in another newly created position, that of SVP of transaction advisory services. Both Gialanella and Geiger will be based in DTZ's Manhattan offices at 1271 Ave. of the Americas.

Gialanella will be responsible for increasing DTZ's regional penetration in service lines such as brokerage, property and facilities management, project management and strategic consultative property solutions to both corporate occupier, government and investor clients. He'll be working closely with Dirk Hrobsky and Chris Helgesen, DTZ's co-managing directors in New York, as well as the co-managing directors for New Jersey, Peter Yannotta and the newly appointed Frank Truesdell.

Previously, Gialanella worked at CBRE in a variety of capacities, including EVP of business development in the New York tri-state region, EVP of New Jersey operations and head of the global corporate services transaction management business. Before that, CBRE, Gialanella spent 20 years with Cushman & Wakefield, serving on C&W's board of directors and global management committee. His track record in building and improving property services businesses in the region “make him uniquely qualified to lead DTZ's strategic growth plan for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut,” says Robert Shibuya, DTZ group president.

The primary focus for Geiger, a 30-year veteran of market research, business development and real estate consulting, will be enhancing the transaction support system from research through consulting support for the company's brokerage lines. Before launching her own consulting business, she was a senior manager at FirstService Williams, predecessor to Colliers New York, where her area of responsibility was real estate analytics, marketing/graphics and client consulting services.

As an SVP at Studley, Geiger managed the national research staff and provided custom research and consulting services. Similarly, she served as managing director for research services at Insignia, where she was responsible for market analytics, all branch research activities and client support services. Geiger founded two real estate information companies, REITrac and AssetTrac, which were sold in the 1990s to Dow Jones & Co. and a division of Lloyds of London, respectively.
