ROCHESTER, NY-Archery manufacturer The Outdoor Group LLC will build a new 70,000-square-foot manufacturing building and move part of its operations from Kentucky to the Rochester suburb of Henrietta, the Cuomo administration said Monday. The deal will retain 44 jobs that are currently in Rochester and bring 35 jobs from Kentucky, after the company had considered moving its operations out of New York State.
An umbrella group for a series of LLCs all involved in the manufacturing of high-end archery equipment, TOG operates three manufacturing locations in Rochester, Kentucky and Oregon. The company recently outgrew its Rochester location of 15,000 square feet of leased space, leading to an evaluation of options to accommodate growth and to consolidate operations.
“As a lifelong resident of Western New York, I was very pleased that the State of New York and Monroe County were able to help us keep our growing business right here in Henrietta,” says TOG president Peter Crawford. “It is fantastic to see New York State and its counties implement programs that will grow our own economy and retain jobs.” The company will receive $900,000 in Excelsior tax credits from the Empire State Development Corp. in exchange for its $5-milliion investment in the new facility.
Associated with the expansion is a Rochester-based composite mold manufacturer, All American Precision Mold & Tool Co., which gets 90% of its business from TOG. Had TOG moved to Kentucky, All American would either have had to move along with it or close its doors. Instead, it will be absorbed into TOG and also be located in the newly built facility. Among TOG's brands are Elite Archery, Scott Archery, Custom Bow Equipment, Duel Game Calls, Winner's Choice Custom Bowstrings, Solid Broadhead Co. and Perfect Form Manufacturing.
