CHICAGO— The Trammell Crow Company, through its subsidiary High Street Residential, has broken ground on Midtown Square, a four-story, mixed-use development with 138 class A luxury apartments and 9,000-square-feet of first-floor retail space, including a drive-thru. The 215,000-square-foot project will rise on 2.7 acres in Downtown Glenview, directly east of the Glenview Station along Glenview Rd., a stop for both Metra commuter rail and Amtrak. The company acquired the site, which included the town's former fire department headquarters, in May 2013 and began demolition in July. They plan to complete the project in the fall of 2014.
John Carlson, the senior associate who manages TCC's Midwest Business Unit's multi-family developments, says the company will “deliver a project that will attract residents who want to live near several modes of transportation, making their commute across the Chicago suburban area easy and accessible.”
Midtown Square will offer one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Unit features will include balconies or patios, granite counter tops, nine-foot ceilings and large cabinets. Community amenities include a sun deck, clubroom, dog wash station, business center, bicycle storage, concierge station, access control entryways, heated parking and a fitness center that houses strength training and cardiovascular equipment.
