WASHINGTON, DC-CBRE is making a play for what it believes is a growing opportunity in the DC area commercial real estate industry: private capital, or non-institutional transactions.

It plans to use its institutional-level platform of services to bolster what it offers clients in this space. It also has tapped Kenneth Freeman to join its Private Capital Group as First Vice President. Freeman joins CBRE from the Brooklyn, New York office of Massey Knakal. He'll be working with Marc Rampulla in CBRE's DC office. "Private capital and the smaller investor is a growing piece of real estate market," Freeman tells GlobeSt.com.

On board now for several days, Freeman says he has helped secure the listing of a property in Dupont Circle that CBRE will be taking to market shortly.
