HOUSTON-Hunington Residential Inc. has acquired the iconic Houston property, Vargos on the Lake, and is planning an Oct. 30 ground breaking for a luxury multifamily development. The site was formerly home to Vargos, a high-end steakhouse. Hunington plans to begin occupancy by summer of 2014.

Vargos on the Lake will feature 276 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, including thirteen three-bedroom townhomes. The apartment community will offer active recreation via the Fit Flicks Theater; which will feature a projection wall and cardio equipment such as rowers, bikes, treadmills and Stairmaster. Fit Flicks Theater will screen movies on a daily basis.

Additional top-of-the-line amenities will include two leash-free dog parks, resident clubhouse and demonstration kitchen, conference/private dining room, evening concierge, cold food delivery storage, kickboxing station, three outdoor kitchens, active pool, outdoor fire lounge, zen pool, global gaming room, yoga studio and two massage rooms.

The community will place an emphasis on green living, with electric vehicle charging spaces and solar panels provided by Reliant Energy that will power the pool and its surrounding fans, lights and music. The Teal System will add the most energy efficient solution for on demand hot water. Lush site grounds will retain the beauty and renowned Lake Vargo view the former restaurant was famous for and will exhibit extensive landscaping provided by ELI Land Design.
