ISELIN, NJ-Maidenform's headquarters here is to be closed as a result of its merger with Hanesbrands in July.

About half of Maidenform's 1,330 employees worldwide will lose their jobs, according to a report in The Winston-Salem Journal of North Carolina. Operations in Iselin are to be consolidated at Hanesbrands' headquarters in Winston-Salem and Manhattan.

Only two years ago, Maidenform had expanded its lease to take a total of 81,276 square feet at Building F in Woodbridge Corporate Plaza. Maidenform now occupies 70% of the four-story, 116,030-square-foot property.

KBS Realty Advisors Inc. owns the building. Maidenform employees were reportedly informed of the coming cuts Thursday – but so far, reports have not specified the number of jobs that will leave the state.

“Maidenform job reductions will primarily result from duplicative corporate and operational functions that are already in place at Hanes, and from the absorption of the Fayetteville (N.C.) distribution operations into the Hanes network,” Hanesbrands said in a news release.

Hanesbrands paid $583 million to acquire Maidenform last summer.
