WASHINGTON, DC-Retailers got a sense of what the St. Elizabeths gateway pavilion would be like at the International Council of Shopping Centers' RECon show in Las Vegas show earlier this year. Now that the pavilion is delivering—with the ribbon cutting slated for this morning—retailers and food vendors are starting to investigate leasing and vendor opportunities. "A lot of a interest was expressed toward pop up retail at ICSC," a spokeswoman for the deputy mayor's office of Planning and Economic Development, tells GlobeSt.com.

Leasing has not yet begun, she adds, and a leasing operator has just been selected.

St. Elizabeths gateway pavilion, now called Gateway DC, is located at 2700 Martin Luther King Ave. on the St Elizabeths East campus.

Victor Hoskins, deputy mayor for Planning and Economic Development, describes G8WAY DC as an interim use park and pavilion that will provide venues for casual dining, a fresh-food market, and other weekend and afterhours, community, cultural and arts events.

The project comes to market with strong green creds, having been designed with an eye to LEED Gold certification. The design included the use of reclaimed wood, a vegetated green roof, drought resistant plantings, and a rainwater harvesting system that can supply irrigation for all of the project's irrigation.

The Design-Build team consisted of KADCON, Davis Brody Bond, LLP, and Robert Silman Associates.
