HOUSTON-Richard Campo hardly needs us to recite his CV: he is that much of a familiar face in the industry. Since May 1993, Campo has been chairman of the board and CEO of Camden Property Trust, one of the largest multifamily REITs in the US. He co-founded Camden's predecessor in 1982, and since then, has steadily built a company that has become a major player in the multifamily sector. Under Campo's leadership, Camden has grown from a Texas-based real estate firm with assets valued at $200 million in 1993 to a company with a national footprint and assets valued at more than $8 billion.
Campo is also a member of NAREIT, where he serves on the executive board; the National Multi Housing Council, where he serves on the executive committee, and has been chairman of the Urban Land Institute.
