MESA, AZ-Citing a healthy and growing multifamily sector in the Valley, Sunrise Management has opened a new regional office. The San Diego-based multifamily real estate management company has named Kevin Pennel to the position of regional vice president for the new office; Pennel is responsible for leading a team to help expand the company's multifamily property portfolio.

The new office is at 1921 S. Alma School Rd. The firm currently manages approximately 3,659 units within 19 communities in the Phoenix Metroplex – with properties in Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe and Scottsdale.

Pennel, meanwhile, has been since Sunrise Management since 2009. He says the growing multifamily market and Sunrise's stake in it, prompted the move to operate locally.

“Due to the booming multifamily market, as well as our ability to add value via strategic re-branding and positioning, we are experiencing tremendous growth in the Phoenix area. In fact, we anticipate new locations in the region will be under our management within the next 60 days,” he says.

Pennel has more than 20 years of industry experience, beginning his career in property management in 1989. Before joining Sunrise, he had the position of vice president of asset management for Bronco RE Private Equity Real Estate, which owned and acquired multifamily properties throughout the region.
