MIAMI—With more than 10 proposed condo towers, Edgewater is on the rise—and the City of Miami is taking notice. For the first time a collective group of developers are coming together to light up this new neighborhood along Biscayne Bay during Art Basel.
Eastview Development, mckafka Development Group, Melo Group, and The Related Group are joining forces to create a radiant light installation. The display will run from Dec. 4 through Dec. 7.
The Edgewater corridor, defined by 17th Street to 37th Street on Biscayne Boulevard, has received plenty of attention in recent months in the face of $1.5 billion of proposed luxury real estate in a span of just four blocks. With each new project serving as a work of art in its own right, this Art Basel-inspired collaboration will offer a glimpse at the buildings poised to define the future of Miami's skyline.
The spectacle of lights will visible by every driver on the Julia Tuttle Causeway shuffling between the art fairs and various Art Basel events in the Design District, Midtown and Miami Beach. The display works to illustrate the rebirth of an area that will soon be bustling with new life surrounded by arts and culture.
Beginning each evening at 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., beams of white light will stretch into the night sky from the sites of Biscayne Beach (Eastview), The Crimson (mckafka), Bay House (Melo), Icon Bay and Paraiso Bay (Related). The light show aims to win the attention of the tens of thousands of artists, curators, collectors, and enthusiasts in town for the world's premier art event.
