WASHINGTON, DC-The third phase of Sheridan Station project broke ground in the Sheridan Road neighborhood near the Anacostia Metro station. An affordable housing initiative, the project will deliver 327 condo units and townhomes for rent or sale. The development will also improve connections between the Anacostia River and Historic Anacostia, Barry Farm, and other nearby communities.
Dewberry completed the land development, site/civil engineering, pre-design survey and construction stake-out services for the three-phase project. SK&I Architectural Design Group designed the units.
Phase one of the project was awarded LEED Platinum--the first multifamily development in the city to achieve this. The energy-efficient housing complex was built with a 100-kilowatt roof-top solar array, which is enough to produce enough electricity to offset up to 40% of the annual electric costs for the 114-unit building's common areas.
The 125,000-square-foot building also has a vegetative green roof and an underground rainwater cistern that collects stormwater run-off.
Phase two of development consisted of 80 for-sale townhomes and condominiums. Phase three will deliver an additional 133 multifamily units.
