HOUSTON-The state of Texas remains the most attractive state for family relocations, according to Allied Van Lines Magnet States Report.
The Lone Star State took the number one ranking in the magnet report for the ninth year in a row. According to the report released on Monday, Texas' posted a net relocation gain of 1,914 families in 2013. The figures compiled in the report are calculated by the difference between inbound moves and outbound moves performed by Chicago-based Allied Van Lines.
Coming in at a distant second was Florida, which registered a net relocation gain of 1,115 moves.
"Texas has been a strong relocation destination for the last decade," states Randy Moore, president of All Points Pioneer, an Allied Van Lines agent in the Dallas area. "We've seen newcomers from every area of the country find a home in Texas, whether it's for the weather, business or retirement."
Rounding out the top five magnet states in 2013 were: Arizona (no. 3), Oregon (no. 4) and Colorado (no. 5).
New York State jumped to the “Most Outbound State” position from fifth most outbound in 2011 and 2012. Rounding out the top five were: Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey.
