MIAMI—CBRE is shaking up its commercial real estate offices from one end of the state to the other. The company is adding new talent and promoting existing talent among its ranks.

First, Randy Anderson, Ph.D. has joined the company as Americas Head of Research. According to CBRE, Anderson brings to a strong and varied background in commercial real estate, including extensive academic experience and hands-on involvement in real estate investment, finance and management.

“We are very excited to have Randy lead our Research efforts in the Americas,” says Nick Axford, Ph.D., CBRE's Global Head of Research. “He has a proven ability to develop practical strategies and insight from complex market data.”

Most recently, he has served as principal of Blue Rock Real Estate LLC, which focused on investing in real estate assets, primarily apartment buildings in the Southeastern U.S., and as a professor at the University of Central Florida, where he significantly expanded the real estate program.

The International Council of Shopping Centers recently ranked UCF's real estate program one of the five best in the country. Earlier, he served as Chief Economist at CNL Financial Group and Marcus & Millichap, and as a founding partner of Franklin Square Capital Partners. He has also advised a broad range of institutional investors on their real estate strategies. Anderson will join CBRE's Americas Operations Management Board.

“This talent is vitally important as strategic analysis increasingly underpins real estate decision-making for both occupiers and investors,” says Axford. “Global trends are having an ever greater impact on local markets, and Randy will be a valuable addition to our Research leadership team as we develop an integrated global approach to addressing these issues.”

Anderson has earned a Counselors of Real Estate designation and been named a Distinguished Fellow at the NAIOP Research Foundation and a Fellow at the Homer Hoyt Institute. He has written and published more than 80 articles on real estate investment strategies and related topics, and serves as editor of the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management. Meanwhile, Bobby Gatling has joined CBRE as a first vice president in the firm's Industrial Services group in Jacksonville. Gatling will focus on industrial landlord and tenant representation along with owner-occupier and investment sales.

“Bobby is an accomplished, energetic broker with extraordinary depth of knowledge of the market,” says Tripp Gulliford, managing director for CBRE in Jacksonville. “As the Jacksonville industrial economy continues to perform well—with vacancy rates steadily declining and employment growing—CBRE will be well positioned to serve the industrial market's needs.”

Gatling joins CBRE from Newmark Grubb Phoenix Realty Group, where he brokered over 6.25 million square feet of sales and leases valued at approximately $113 million since 2005. A third-generation Jacksonville native, Gatling has extensive knowledge of Northeast Florida's commercial submarkets, specifically on distribution, flex and manufacturing space, and port-related land.

In 2013 Gatling brokered the sale of nearly 1.3 million square feet of industrial and office properties valued at over $31 million and executed lease transactions with a value of $15 million. Gatling received the “Industrial Sale of the Year, 2012” recognition by the NAIOP, Northeast Florida chapter, and received “Top Broker” recognitions from Newmark multiple years in a row.

Finally, Dominic Montazemi in CBRE's Boca Raton office has been promoted to first vice president. He works within the Private Capital Group (PCG) South Florida Commercial Team, which specializes in the disposition of office, industrial and land properties in South Florida.

Since 2011, the team has completed 59 transactions representing over $398 million in asset pricing. Since partnering in 2003, the South Florida PCG team has delivered exceptional service to their clients which has resulted in market leading share reflected in the team's national top 10 ranking in 2009, 2010, 2011 and  2012.

“Private capital investment sales is the lifeblood of the South Florida economy, and with improving fundamentals, has become even more critical over the past few years," says Ken Krasnow, managing director for CBRE in South Florida. "Dominic has evolved from being an integral member of the PCG team to becoming a team leader, and this recognition was hard-earned and well-deserved.”
