BRISTOL, CT-The former home of Superior Electric and now ESPN's North Campus has traded for $42 million to Inland Real Estate Acquisitions Inc. HFF marketed the 410,174-square-foot facility at 383 Middle St. here on behalf of the seller, Winstanley Enterprises LLC.
The HFF investment sales team representing the seller was led by senior managing directors Jose Cruz and Andrew Scandalios, managing directors Kevin O'Hearn and Jeffrey Julien and associate director Steve Simonelli. “Inland's ability to perform on these types of transactions is one of the reasons why they are a preferred national buyer,” says Cruz.
The Hartford, CT Courant reported that 383 Middle St., situated on 36.9 acres in the Southeast Bristol Business, was formerly the headquarters and factory of Superior Electric, which employed as many as 700 workers in the 1960s. The company closed the plant and left Bristol in 2001. An arm of Winstanley Enterprises bought the property in 2002 for slightly less than $7 million, according to municipal records.
Winstanley then divided up the building, leasing sections to various small and mid-sized business tenants. ESPN, which is headquartered about a mile away, has steadily increased its presence there since 2005, remodeling extensively as it expanded its office and administrative space at 383 Middle, the Courant reported. The sports network has labeled the facility ESPN North Campus.
