BETHESDA, MD-Industry veteran Rick Farren has joined Cushman & Wakefield in its local office as senior director, where he will represent both landlords and tenants. Most recently Farren was with McShea & Co., which was acquired by Avison Young last year.

At McShea, Farren held a similar position of senior vice president, closing some 1 million square feet of deals during his last two years worth about $100 million. Prior to McShea, Farren was with Manekin.

For the most part, C&W is bringing Farren on board for his expertise and contacts. The company is not, in other words, seeking to expand its footprint in the Montgomery County market even though C&W is expecting increased deal activity there, Farren tells GlobeSt.com. "There will be more activity when the federal government moves back into leasing mode," he says.
