WHEATON, MD-This tiny submarket is about to receive more residential units courtesy of the Washington Property Co.'s Solaire Wheaton, which is getting ready to deliver. The apartments are already leasing, WPC reports and some residents have moved in.

The project, located at 10914 Georgia Ave., is one of a number underway or nearing completion in this submarket, which is undergoing a steady revitalization. "With more than 1,000 new apartments, the new Safeway and Costco, and planned relocation of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Wheaton is emerging as a dynamic 24-7 urban environment where people can live, work, and play," says WPC's Evan Feldman, Associate Vice President of Development and Acquisitions, in a prepared statement.

The apartment building was designed by Atlanta-based The Preston Partnership. RBS Citizens Bank provided project financing; Clark Builders Group was the general contractor. Gables Residential is providing property management and leasing services. The building features 7,000 square feet of amenity space and its specs meet the criteria for LEED Silver certification.
