WASHINGTON, DC-The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman has shelled out $16.5 million for a former charter school that is three blocks north of the White House.
The embassy purchased the property from Rock Creek Property Group. The renovated five-story, 28,366-square-foot vacant property will be used by Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman as a chancery annex and cultural center, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Rock Creek Property Group acquired the property at 16th and L streets through a foreclosure auction in late 2011 for $4.7 million and subsequently undertook a speculative rehab of the building. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
