PHILADELPHIA-Mayor Michael Nutter and City Council President Darrell Clarke reached a preliminary agreement that will allow for the sale of the garage at JFK Plaza and work to begin find funding for the renovation of the park, also known as LOVE Park.

The plan Clarke and Nutter agreed to on Monday allows the sale of the underground garage to proceed. It also includes increasing the total amount of green space at the park; the designation of dedicated space for the sale of concessions; the incorporation of new water and horticultural features; and the keeping of the diagonal flow of pedestrian traffic at the park, according to The Inquirer.

Mayor Nutter also said the city intends for a $3-million grant through the state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) to be used for park renovations. See story in The Inquirer.
