TRENTON, NJ-The sate's marketing agency, Choose New Jersey, is launching an effort geared at attracting developer and investment interest in land in urban areas, such as in struggling cities like Paterson and Passaic, that are eligible for lucrative tax breaks.

Choose New Jersey is offering urban property owners the chance to advertise their property for sale free on the agency's new listings website. Normally, the cost to post a commercial or industrial property on its website choosenjsites.com is $250; $1,000 for up to five properties; and $5,000 for 25 properties, according to The Record.

"As New Jersey's lead economic development organization, we want to make it easy for executives with site selection responsibilities to identify available properties in these designated communities," says Tracye McDaniel, Choose New Jersey's chief executive officer.

Land owners must have property to sell in areas designated as Garden State Growth Zones or Urban Transit Hub Municipalities under the state's revamped economic incentives law, the New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act, which was signed into law by Gov. Chris Christie last September. See story in The Record.
