ARLINGTON, VA-Now that financing is in place, site work is expected to begin soon on the Mom's Organic Market development at Lee Highway and North Veitch Street here.
The Verde Pointe project, which will also include approximately 200 residential units, is being developed at the former Bergmann's Cleaning store site by McCaffery Interests Inc. and Bergmann's Inc., according to the Washington Business Journal.
The ownership secured financing earlier this month with Cardinal Bank and Burke & Herbert Bank to launch the $80-million redevelopment project. The plan calls for 177 apartments, 23 townhomes, a 14,000-square-foot Mom's Organic Market store and a three-level parking garage at 2145 Lee Highway. Construction is expected to be complete in 18 months.
"Bergmann's has been part of the fabric of the Washington, D.C., area for more than 97 years. … This development is a way for our family to continue to be part of the legacy of the Arlington community," states Bergmann's President Peter Bergmann. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
