ATLANTA—KDC just announced plans for a 17-acre site in the Perimeter Center area of Dunwoody, GA. State Farm is leasing 585,000 square feet of office space and plans to add additional buildings over the next decade.

"KDC is excited to continue our relationship with State Farm through the creation of a transit-oriented development in Dunwoody," says Larry Wilson, a division president at KDC. "This project will provide State Farm's work force a continued platform for success with direct access to a true live-work-play environment and a MARTA station."

KDC's first office building will be constructed on a nearly four-acre site at Hammond Drive and Perimeter Center Parkway and will connect to the Dunwoody MARTA station. KDC plans to begin construction on the first building in summer of 2014. KDC's transit-oriented development will include 2.2 million square feet of office space, 100,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, and entertainment, and a 200-room select service hotel.

State Farm has identified the Atlanta metropolitan area as a hub city where a number of employees will work collectively across several functions to serve customers. These functions will be staffed by a combination of new hires and existing employees. State Farm currently employs nearly 5,000 people in the Atlanta metro area. In the coming years, State Farm will have approximately 8,000 employees in the Atlanta metro area.

"We are excited to be considering an expansion in the Dunwoody community as we position State Farm to better serve communities across the US," says Mary Crego, senior vice president of State Farm. "This expansion positions State Farm for the future as we grow to meet changing customer needs and expectations."
