DAVIE, FL-Nova Southeastern University held a groundbreaking on Thursday for its $80-million NSU Center for Collaborative Research.
The six-story state-of-the-art research center to be built at its main Davie campus will include wet labs, a technology incubator and IBM supercomputer "Megalodon," according to the Miami Herald. The project will be completed in 2016.
"This university will be in an elite status of research throughout the nation," NSU President George Hanbury II said at the groundbreaking ceremony that attracted 250 people.
The development of the building will create 300 construction-related jobs, and 150 research-related jobs, NSU officials state. The NSU Center for Collaborative Research will house scientists and researchers from the United States Geological Survey, the Emil Buehler Research Center for Engineering, Science and Mathematics, and the Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research.
